Sweaty Man Electrocuted By PC
Sweaty Man Electrocuted By PC Let this be a warning to all of you: Don't touch the inside of your PC when you are wet. According to Shanghai Daily, a young man, simply identified as "Wu," was shocked to death by his PC. Wu took the case off the outside of his PC to prevent it from overheating. For some unexplained reason, he was not running the air conditioner in his home, so he wasn't wearing that much clothing. At some point, his sweaty leg came in contact with his PC's innards and Wu was dealt the deadly jolt -- 380 volts right from his PC's power supply. Let's not forget that gadgets are electric, after all, and these kinds of deaths can happen just like that, so follow the precautions you'd take with any other electricity-powered device (like don't touch it if you're wet!).

OMG... And I don't have an aircon on my room. And I always prefer not wearing any tops on my own room.

That dosn't seem right.. So I did some looking and found this: In other parts of the world, single phase outlet gives 220 and the 'industrial strength' comes to 380 Volts. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/567549.html So that country's 380 is similar to Americas 480 which is three phase. I have never seen a "home PC" that runs on 480 or 380. All of the Home PCs that I've seen run off 120 VAC single phase. Now I have seen business equipment (full size 19 inch racks) that run on three phase but even in those cases the three phase was only used to power the big fans in the case, for everything else the power was reduced to 120VAC single phase. I say that this story is made up. Yes the power in your home PC can kill you but its no were near the 380 that the story implies. Sounds to me like someone got two stories mixed up, an industrial death from 3phase and a residential death from 120 1 phase.

380 volts right from his PC's power supply. Or maybe they meant watts rather than volts?

380 is an odd number for a power rating. I tend to see even numbers when it comes to power ratings.

380 is the new 400. Or a failed 400.

Wow, they made 380 an odd number now? I always thought numbers with a 0 at the end were even. :)

It's odd as in, not normal.

Oh...so even is normal then? I tend to see even numbers when it comes to power ratings.
